Primitive Soul Music 2008

Groove... Jam... Funk... Blues - that's the sound of Primtive Soul. Led by lead singer-songwriter-Guitarist Alan Grant, who has performed all over the US and Europe, Primitive Soul is celebrating more than a decade of musical momentum and success. Joined by the multi-talented bassist Brian Mooney and drummer at large Brian Trim, Primitive Soul tastfully walks the fine line of performing a tight groove set mixed with "jam band" overtones.

On the heels of their last CD, "Devotion", which was voted into the Top Ten of Indie releases, comparisons have been drawn to the earlier years of Steely Dan because of their ability to weave a diverse mix of musical dynamics, not only within their set, but within each song.

And while Primitive Soul has been called everything from “pure Jersey soul” to “the best classic groove coming out of New Jersey”, this is a band that has much more to offer. Committed to philanthropy, Primitive Soul regularly donates performances to such worthy causes as Lyme disease, spinal cord research, children with disabilities, the homeless and the Weekend of Hope for cancer survivors in Stowe, Vermont.
